Summer Growth Group Semester (June 12 - August 14) "Following Jesus Together"

We will be experimenting this semester with Bible storying as we go through "Following Jesus Together." We will follow the story of the disciples as they meet Jesus, follow Him, get to know Him and begin to grow. We will follow Jesus with them in chronological order choosing stories form all four of the gospels in the order they occurred. Jesus took these disciples on a journey together so they could become like Him and be His sent ones (apostles) to the world. If you face each situation they faced and respond like they did, you will be Jesus' disciples indeed and in deed.

Our own Mattie King will be embarking on a mission trip with the student ministry of Taylors First Baptist April 16-24 to Fortaleza, Brazil. She will be working mostly with orphaned children. They will be reaching many people through music, drama, Vacation Bible School, devotionals, and spending time with the people. Secret Church Simulcast (Good Friday, April 22)

Speaker/Teacher David Platt (author of Radical). Simulcast from The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham, Alabama. Time: 5 pm to 11 pm. This is a free event with study guides provided. Dr. David Platt will lead us in a time of Bible study on Good Friday, the day of Christ’s crucifixion. From cover to cover in Scripture, God’s grand design is to display His glory in the salvation of sinners. The climax of this redemptive plan is the cross of Christ, where God pours out His wrath due sin upon His Son that we might receive His mercy. During this Secret Church, we will explore “What must I do to be saved?” We will see how the Bible answers this question as we consider God’s love, Christ’s atonement, and the Christian’s conversion, regeneration, justification, sanctification, and eventual glorification. In the end, we will find ourselves boasting only in the cross of Christ, through which we have received the grace of God and by which we now live for the glory of God.

BBQ Fundraiser Luncheon for Josh and Lake Stovall

Locust Hill Baptist Pastor Bill Pfister and several youth from Locust Hill and Ridgeview Church will be going with Will Snipes of Blue Ridge Middle. We will be doing a service project called “Coats 4 Kids.” Preschoolers are encouraged to bring a new or used coat (size does not matter). We will donate these to children in need.
